History: (BEFORE CURSE) Princess Ophelia-Talyana was the eldest of three children born to King Tancred-Beringar and Queen Verena-Clarimond of Kildenree. Her birth was followed shortly after by her brother Garrit-Alois, just 3 years later, and her sister Freida-Angelike, 3 years after that. All three children were very loved, and there was not an ounce of favoritism ever shown. Though the Prince and princesses were a bit spoiled at times, their parents made sure to raise them to know that being Royalty did not mean you were better than anyone, it simply meant you had more responsibility. For Garrit, that meant that one day he would be king, and for Ophelia and Freida, that meant that someday, they would marry a prince and foster an alliance for their country.
When Ophelia was about 3 years old, her parents decided that it was time for her to have a governess, someone to teach her all that a good princess needed to know. But, instead of agreeing with her husband that his own former governess, Verena insisted upon her own sister, Lady Kasimira. Verena knew that her daughter needed more than just good manners and needlework, and dancing to get her by. In her eyes, a princess, a daughter, needed to know just as much as a prince did. She would need to know history, literature, and above all else, how to hold her own in the world of politics. And she knew that her sister would make sure her baby girl was ready when the time for her to be married off to her betrothed, and eventually became a queen herself, came. And of course, when her two younger children were old enough, Lady Kasimira took over their education as well.
Ophelia enjoyed all aspects of her education, she was bright and loved to learn, but her favorite part of the day was when her Aunt would tell them stories and legends. She especially enjoyed the stories of how, in the beginning of time, all things, people, animals, and nature, could communicate with out hindrance. How people could talk to animals, and the elements of nature as if an old friend, but that over the centuries these gifts, animal speaking, and nature speaking, had become much more rare in the human race, but some swore they still existed. Ophelia remembered asking with wide eyes if her aunt believed the gifts existed, and when her Aunt answered yes with a twinkle in her eye, the princess felt her hopes soar.
Ophelia wanted to have the ability to animal speak, or even better, nature speak so very badly it made her heart hurt. And in her alone time, she would often sneak out onto the castle grounds and try very hard to find them in herself. And after a short while she was both shocked but overjoyed to find that with practice she possessed not just both gifts. She could both communicate with animals through a mix of sounds and movements, and slight telepathy, and she could communicate with and manipulate wind. Of course once she knew this for sure, she had to tell her aunt, who cautioned her not to tell everyone, as in these times there were many who were superstitious in these times, and so she told no one else but her brother after this.
Most of Ophelia's childhood was thankfully blissful, and happy. But unfortunately, just before her sixteenth birthday, tragedy would strike the Royal family. Her mother, the queen, got very sick, and unfortunately, passed away. This had an ill effect on all the members of the family, and she was mourned very deeply. During the six weeks of mourning that was customary, Ophelia turned sixteen, which meant that almost immediately after the mourning was over, preparations were begun for her journey to the country of Bayern, to marry her betrothed, the crown Prince.
Although the journey started off fine, things did not end up the way Ophelia expected. A week into the journey, most of her guards started giving her dirty looks, and her handmaiden, Belinda, whom until now she had always thought was her only friend outside her family, began to treat her coldly. And finally, about 2 days before they reached the capital of Bayern, the worst happened. It turned out that under Belinda's leadership, her entire escort had turned against her. Belinda forced her to switch clothes and horses with her, and told her that if she tried to tell anyone in Bayern of her true identity she would be killed. Being outnumbered, with no chance of escape, Ophelia had no choice but to do as she was told.
When they reached the capital, to keep Ophelia as far away from the Royal family as possible, Belinda had her sent down to work with the servants who tended the King's livestock, on the other end of the city. She was assigned to be the new goose girl, and for months that was all she did, tend the geese and keep her head down, staying out of trouble and trying not to stand out too much. She befriended some of the other animal keepers, especially a native Bayern girl named Indira, who would over time become Ophelia's true best friend.
Besides Indira, and her few other friends, and her geese, Ophelia's only distraction from all that had happened to her, was a palace guard named Marik, whom visited her in the fields while she was tending her geese. They had met when he had lost control of his horse, and almost fallen in the fields one day. Discreetly using her animal speaking gift, she managed to calm the horse, and save the poor guard from a very painful fall. After that, they had become fast friends, and he came to visit her while she worked often, not seeming to care that she was just a simple "goose girl". Ophelia didn't really realize it, but slowly, she was falling in love with the handsome guard.
One night, when the date of the "Royal wedding" had finally just been announced, Indira noticed that Ophelia was especially depressed and quiet, and urged her to tell her what was wrong. Although Ophelia was scared, she really did think she could trust Indira, and so she took a chance and told her everything. And to her joy and surprise, her friend not only believed her and was outraged for her, she insisted that she would do whatever it took to help her make things right for her.
Indira convinced her to let her 2 other closest friends, Conrad (the other goose keeper), and Jinna in on the secret, and Ophelia found that not having to hide her true self from everyone was such a relief. Together, the four of them attempted to think of a plan to stop Belinda from marrying the prince in her place, and reveal the handmaiden's treachery. After some thought, Ophelia realized the answer had been right in front of her all along. The former prime minister of Bayern, Rolind, who had only retired two short years ago, had visited the royal court of Kildenree often, and knew what she looked like. If they could find him and enlist his help, they would have no trouble convincing the king, as Ophelia and Belinda looked nothing alike besides their blonde hair.

(BEFORE CURSE CONT.) And so, after making some inquiries as to the whereabouts of the former prime minister, and finding that his estate was located just a few short miles outside the city, the four friends immediately set out to plead for his assistance. It took them less than a day to reach Lord Rolind's estate, and when he saw Ophelia and heard her story, he agreed to help without question. The next day they made their way to the palace with Lord Rolind, and with his help were granted an immediate audience with the king. Upon hearing everything Ophelia, her friends, and his own friend the former Prime Minister had to say, the king had no choice but to believe them, and sent his guards out to bring Belinda to the throne room.
Ophelia had just started to think things were finally going to be set right and be as they should. But just as Belinda was being arrested and sentenced to death for her treason, the guards that were loyal to her stormed the throne room freeing her. As she escaped, she stopped long enough to have one of her guards capture the Prince, and told Ophelia that if she couldn't have everything she had, then she would make sure the one thing she wanted she couldn't have. It was at this point that Ophelia learned that the Marik, the guard she had fallen in love with, was actually the Prince she was supposed to marry from the beginning. Unfortunately Belinda and her guards escaped with Prince Marik, and were never seen again.
For five years after that day, Ophelia and her friends and family searched high and low. During this time she grew very close to Marik's father and sister, whom she now considered an extended part of her family. Some whispered that their search was foolhardy, surely Belinda would have killed the Prince by now. But Ophelia knew in her gut Marik was still alive, and she and the others refused to give up on him.
There came a day when finally, they found where Belinda and her men were keeping him. But just as they were about to rescue him, and Ophelia was finally going to be reunited with him, Regina/The Evil Queen's curse hit. And they were all sent to Storybrooke.
(DURING CURSE) During the curse, while she was in Storybrooke, Ophelia was known as Ophelia Kaiser. She had no memory of her previous life in the Enchanted Forest (Kildenree and Bayern). The only family member she knew was her aunt, whom she believed raised her, and worked as a gardener. She spent her days working in the animal shelter, which she owns. And she befriended some of the townspeople, such as her coworker Maddy.
(AFTER CURSE) After the curse was broken, Ophelia and her aunt remembered who they were but were disappointed to find they had no idea where their friends and family are. And on top of that Ophelia once again has no idea where Prince Marik is. For now they are going about their daily lives still working where they did during the curse, while also searching desperately for their loved ones.

Roleplay Example: Kenni wasn't sure how long she'd been sitting there in the soft oversized armchair, just a few feet from the large glass sliding doors leading out to the stone patio overlooking her grandmother's estate. She had stopped keeping track of the time after the first couple of hours, her mind straying elsewhere. She could just barely register the sound of her boxer puppy, Buddy, wrestling with his huge bone shaped squeaky toy. He had been up on the chair cuddling with her earlier, but there was only so long the loveable pup could stay still before getting restless. Other than her grandmother and her sister Neroli, Buddy had been her only company for a few days now, mostly due to the fact that after everything that had happened recently, every time she even thought about leaving her grandmother's manor the clenching pain in her heart simply grew worse. No, she had absolutely no desire to be around people and try to force fake smiles and cheerfulness. She just didn't think she could do it.
Nor could she deal with the looks of both pity and disappointment she'd be sure to receive from her siblings and friends. It was bad enough receiving those exact looks from her grandmother and sister every day since she had made the biggest mistake of her life. She had no idea what she had been thinking, how she could have been so stupid, how she had willingly done something so terrible. It was bad enough that she had slept with someone other than the man she loved, but to knowingly sleep with the man she knew her sister was in love with? That wasn't her, even when she had been single and sleeping around regularly, she would never have done that, and yet just days ago, she had. She didn't know what had hurt more, seeing the look of betrayal and hurt on Lohm's face, or hearing the words "we're done" coming from his lips. Either way it had hurt more than anything ever had, and knowing that it was all her own fault, that only made the pain so much worse. And it still hadn't stopped hurting even a little bit. She knew she deserved it, in fact she thought she deserved worse, but that didn't ease the pain.
It still hurt like hell waking up every morning knowing that she wouldn't see him. It hurt knowing that when she went to sleep again that night, he wouldn't be there to hold her. This was the longest she had been away from him and hadn't spoken to him in a long time, and it was tearing her apart piece by piece. She'd finally found someone she loved that loved her, and she had thrown it all away. She was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of Buddy whining at the doors, clearly begging to be let outdoors where he could run. Forcing the smallest of smiles, Kenni lifted herself from her chair, and made her way over to her puppy. Kneeling down briefly, she patted him on the head and kissed his nose. "Alright boy, hold on, I hear you," she murmured, before standing up and sliding the door open. The door had barely been open a moment before Buddy was bolting out running down to the grassy back yard of the manor. Kenni couldn't help but let out a small laugh at his hyper eagerness to run.
She had been standing there a few moments when the sound of her grandmother's voice, speaking in her native language, Greek, broke the silence. "You know, i bet he would be even happier if you went out there and played with him, I think the fresh air would do you good sweetheart." Kenni shook her head, turning to look at her, and responded, speaking in Greek herself. "No Nana, I really don't feel like going outside today." Her grandmother frowned, pulling Kenni to her, and wrapping her arms around her. "You can't hide yourself away for ever my love," she said, switching to English, "sooner or later you'll have to face it, no matter how hard it is. And i know it is hard." Kenni just shook her head again, burying her face against her grandmother's shoulder, and blinking back tears. "You made a mistake Kendrix, and painful as it is, eventually you do have to face up to it and go back to living your life," the older woman murmured, running her fingers through her granddaughter's hair, "you're going to get through this, just like you've gotten through every other hard thing in your life. And just like all those times, you won't have to do it alone, you know very well your sisters and brothers wouldn't dream of letting you go through this alone... not even Karone." At the mention of her sister, Kenni looked up again. She hadn't seen Karone since that day, and she was terrified of facing her. "Don't look so frightened, she isn't angry with you Kendrix, she's worried about you darling, they all are." Kenni bit her lip. "She should hate me Nana... she should want to see me hurt... Merlin knows i deserve it..." Her grandmother smiled. "Darling, I think Karone and i can both agree you're already hurting more than enough. Now come on, at least come sit with me on the patio." Sighing, Kenni allowed herself to be led outside.
